DOG OBEDIENCE TRAINING

We know you love your dog.  But, an untrained dog can be no fun. Does Fido jump on you? Drag you down the street when you try to walk him??? Dog obedience training can make a world of difference in your pet. Just six short classes can transform your unruly beast into a well-behaved pet who knows how to sit, heel and stay. We offer classes designed to help you with basic through advanced dog obedience training. Our trainers have extensive experience and are all active participants in Canine Sports, Show Handling, Obedience, Agility & Canine Freestyle.

We don't leave out kitties either! We offer feline classes to teach your cat to adjust to children, family members and even other pets in their new home. Also, we can share inspiring ways to understand your cat's behavior and actions.

For more info or to participate in a program or class, please call 732-542-1036.  Your dog (and cat) will thank you!

VOGEL-SPCA SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC

The Vogel- SPCA Spay/Neuter Clinic provides low cost spaying and neutering for your pets.
We can offer this high quality care for your pet because our staff specializes in spay/neuter surgery. If any aspects of your pet's health would increase surgical risks, you will be consulted.  After your pet awakens from surgery, he will spend time recovering while sleeping under a warm blanket.

Spaying and neutering your pet has significant health benefits and will help reduce the terrible overpopulation of pets that results in so many homeless animals in the shelter. Read why spaying and neutering is so important HERE.

Please spay and neuter your pets! For current pricing and appointments call 732-542-3125

Call for information on our special feral cat pricing programs. The Monmouth County SPCA participates in New Jersey Department of Health Public Assistance Spay/Neuter Programs.

We also hold a no Exam Vaccine Clinic every Friday 12:30-2:00 PM, no appointment needed. Cats & Dogs only please!
Services (Fees subject to change at any time)
Rabies vaccine - $25
Distemper vaccine - $20
FELV/FIV test - $38
Microchip - $35

As of 2002, we have started microchipping our dogs and cats prior to adoption. You can bring your pet to our clinic to be microchipped for a small fee! Microchipping involves placing a very small chip under your pet's skin. This chip contains your information, and this information is placed in the AKC database. If your pet is lost, a special scanner can be used to 'read' your pet's chip and find out who he belongs to, so you can be notified. It is an excellent way to make sure pet and owner can be re-united!

Community members are invited to call the SPCA with concerns about seriously ill or aging pets, euthanasia decisions, or grief over the death of a pet.  Bob Szita MS, LPC, Co-Director of Contemporary Counseling Center of Marlboro, NJ and Pet Loss Counselor for the Monmouth County SPCA will return calls at no charge to the public.

We also hold a Pet Memorial Service once a year in September. Check our Events page in August to find out the exact date.

To request a callback on the Pet Loss Hot Line, contact the MCSPCA at 732-542-0040.

CATS AND DOGS THRIFT SHOP

ATTENTION - As of January, 2008, the Cats and Dogs Thrift Shop will be temporarily closed while we renovate and cannot take donations. We are hoping to reopen in the Spring (keep your fingers crossed for good weather for construction)! Thank you!

The thrift shop is located adjacent to the shelter at 260 Wall Street; Eatontown, New Jersey 07724 . The entrance is on the right side of the building.  Please stop by! The shop is open Wednesday 10AM - 6PM, Thursday 10AM - 4PM, Friday 10AM-4PM, and Saturday 10AM - 6PM, closed Monday and Tuesday. We have many clothes and all kinds of  treasures, you will never know what you might find and best of all, proceeds go to shelter pets.

Donations of good quality used clothing (preferable on hangers) and small goods are always appreciated. Drop-off hours are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 10AM - 4PM.

Please remember that any goods you donate should be in good enough condition that another person will be willing to purchase it. If you think the item is good enough condition to give to a relative or friend, then please donate it to us and it will provide funds for our animals. If it is not in good condition, it can actually take money away from the animals since the MCSPCA must pay to dispose of these items.

If you have clothing that is not in good condition, please put it in one of the bins along the driveway. Only cloth items should be put in these bins. The contents of the bins are made into rags, not sold as clothing. So, if you have clothing that is in good condition, please donate it to the Thrift Shop and do not put it into the bins. Thank you!

Please call 732-542-5342 for more information.

THRIFT SHOP MONIES SUPPORT THE ANIMALS AT THE MCSPCA- THANK YOU!

HUMANE EDUCATION

The MCSPCA offers many programs to students in Monmouth County designed around topics such as responsible pet ownership, understanding the needs of pets, how to behave around familiar and unfamiliar pets to avoid being bitten, the role of an animal shelter in the community and many other topics. Please know that these programs do not limit us in terms of subject matter.  If your school has a special topic concerning animals you would like addressed, please let us know.

If you are interested in scheduling a program, or interested in a group tour for students and scouts, please email Ellen or call 732-542-2030 for more information and to reserve a date.

Girl Scouts

The MCSPCA has teamed up with the Girl Scouts.  The MCSPCA shelter has a "Shelter" badge that Junior, Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts can earn.  Senior Girl Scouts Kelly Coughlin and Tazneen Shahabuddin worked with our Humane Education Department to create this exciting program and design the beautiful white, orange and purple patch.  Badges will be awarded after Scouts complete certain animal-related activities.  Please call 732-542-2030 for more information.

Check out our Young People's Page!  We will be adding to it periodically, so check back often!
