DOGS FOR ADOPTION

These are just a few of our wonderful dogs - there are more at our shelter. Every pet is different and every family is different - the best way to adopt is for you and your family is to visit us, talk with one of our trained Adoption Counselors, and meet our dogs in person.

We use the ASPCA's "Meet Your Match" Program. Each dog is assessed and assigned a "canine-ality" profile (listed with each dog below- Goofball, Couch Potato, Life Of The Party, etc.), and that profile is used to find the best dog for you. Take the MYM 'quiz' and find out which canine-ality profile is the best match for your family.

When you are ready to adopt, please bring your whole family. If you have pets, bring their vet information so that we can check that all your pets are up-to-date with shots. If you rent, please bring your lease, to show that you are allowed to have pets. If you already have a dog, we will oversee a meeting between your current dog(s) and the one you'd like to adopt to make sure that there's a good match. You must be over 21 to adopt.

If you have questions about these dogs, please email Isa. Remember to include the dog's name in the subject of your email.

The shelter is open 7 days a week: from 1:00 - 5:00 PM on Saturday through Wednesday and from 1:00 - 6:00 on Thursday and Friday.

We cannot accept checks or American Express credit cards, but accept Visa, Mastercharge, Discover, and, of course, cash.

!!!NEW DOGS AND PUPPIES ARRIVING SOON!!!!

We have been getting regular arrivals of dogs and puppies from over-crowded shelters all over the country. They're all cute and sweet and looking for loving homes. The next "Rescue Waggin" group will arrive on July 17th!

We are very happy to be able to help these pooches find forever homes here in NJ. Of course, don't forget our other homeless dogs, too! Please come to the shelter to meet all of our lovely animals.

Life of the Party Derby is a 7-month-old Lab mix. He's a great size; he won't be too big, and he's got gorgeous brindle coloring. Derby likes to play with squeaky toys and enjoys people. He comes wriggling over with tail wagging and toy in his mouth for attention. Derby knows "sit".

Go Getter Zeus is a 6-year-old Yellow Lab with lots of energy. Zeus loves to play fetch, and he gives it right back to you for more. Zeus is smart, too - he knows "sit", "stay", "come", and "paw". His tail is always wagging.  He's a great dog.

Busy Bee Jo is a one-year-old Terrier mix who came from a less-than-ideal home. He's not too interested in playing with toys or balls right now - perhaps he never learned how. He loves people, though, and likes to lean against you to be petted. Jo knows "sit",  "stay", and "come".

Go Getter Athena is a 2-year-old Viszla/ Terrier mix whose owner passed away and no one could care for her. She is an energetic girl who loves to play. Athena likes to be petted, and knows "sit".

LuLu is a four-year-old Boxer/ Hound mix who is a little shy at first but quickly becomes attached. She's friendly to all and would prefer to be an only dog.

Daisy is a 6-year-old Beagle whose owner passed away. She's a very sweet girl who's friendly to everyone.

Busy Bee Madison is a two-year-old Terrier mix whose owner no longer had enough time for her. She's friendly with everyone and likes to get lots of loving. She is very smart - she knows "sit", "down", "stay", "come", "paw", "speak", and "up".

Goofball Phoenix is a smart, sweet Terrier mix who is about 6 years old. She knows "sit", "stay", "come", "down", "paw", "other paw", and probably some other tricks that we haven't figured out yet. Phoenix loves attention and likes to be petted. She walks nicely on a leash, too.

Corona is a six-year-old Sharpei mix whose infant "sister" was allergic to her. She is a little shy with strangers, and having a difficult time in the shelter, but loves going on outings. See the photos at the bottom of the page of her hanging out. Corona plays soccer and fetch and enjoys going for walks and running on the beach. Please ask for Isa if you'd like more information about Corona, or email isa@monmouthcountyspca.org.

Busy Bee Rocky is an older Border Collie/ Lab mix who has lots of energy and likes to play.  He enjoys balls and squeaky toys. Rocky knows "sit", "stay", and "come".

Wallflower Petie is a two-year-old Terrier mix who is very sweet. He loves to be petted and is an active boy. He's a little shy at first.  Petie knows "sit" and "come".

Go Getter Delilah is a one-year-old Terrier mix whose owner could no longer keep her. Delilah is a very energetic dog who loves to jump and play. She is a nice dog who gives kisses to all. Delilah knows "sit".

Go Getter Teddy is a medium-sized Terrier mix who was found as a stray. He is about two years old. Teddy knows "sit", "stay", "come", and "paw", and is an affectionate fellow. He likes to play tug with stuffed toys.
