OCTOBER 3, 2009, MCSPCA Annual Dog Walk and Pet Fair - The rain held off! Our annual Dog Walk and Pet Fair was held at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft and as always it was a lot of fun! Despite threatening skies, the rain held off until after 1:00 allowing lots of fun for all!

Over 3000 attendees were there and once again Brookdale went above and beyond the call of duty to make this event a special one. Thank you everyone at Brookdale!

The event is our largest fundraiser of the year. It is projected to have raised over $105,000, funds desperately needed in these tough economic times. Special thanks go to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital who once again led the way in corporate sponsorships by being our corporate partner. We thank all of our corporate sponsors, vendors, individual sponsors and supporters who helped make this event so successful. Everyone's support means a great deal to our staff, volunteers and most of all, the shelter pets waiting for homes. It is especially meaningful this year when times are so tight for all. Thank you everyone!

Former street dog turned stage star Toto from the musical The Wiz served as this year’s honorary “Chairdog”, accompanied by award winning theatrical animal trainer Bill Berloni. Another Berloni rescue, Sandy from the Broadway musical Annie, also attended as our special guest. Are they cute or what?

The Wag (www.thewagband.com) provided great music. The Wag performs every year and we really appreciate it- thank you The Wag!

As mentioned above, this is our biggest fundraiser. Special thanks go to these very wonderful people who worked hard to raise money for the animals - our top fundraisers are:

1st Place: Max and Harriet Colby raised $4,321 - WOWOWOWOW!

2nd Place: Jill Bergmann raised $2,550 - Fantastic!

3rd Place: Alison Weir raised $1,650 - Terrific!

Even our Chief Humane Law Enforcement Office, Victor "Buddy" Amato, did his part to help raise funds, graciously agreeing to sit in a dunking booth and for $5, people could take a chance at dunking him!
