OCTOBER 4, 2008, MCSPCA Annual Dog Walk and Pet Fair - bigger than ever! Our annual Dog Walk and Pet Fair was held at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft and it was amazing! We broke all records! Beautiful weather and lots of fun were shared by over 2000 attendees and 750 dogs. Luckily there is plenty of room to walk around and to park at Brookdale and once again Brookdale went above and beyond the call of duty to make this event a special one. Thank you everyone at Brookdale!

The event is our largest fundraiser of the year. It is projected to have raised over $135,000, proving how generous the community is even in these tough economic times. Everyone's support means a great deal to our staff, volunteers and most of all, the shelter pets waiting for homes. It is especially meaningful this year when times are so tight for all. Thank you everyone!

Special thanks go to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital who once again led the way in corporate sponsorships by being our corporate partner (Dr. Tony DeCarlo is shown with our Executive director, Ursula Goetz to the left). We thank all of our corporate sponsors, vendors, individual sponsors and supporters who helped make this event so successful.

Elwood, the 2007 World's Ugliest Dog (although we think he is cute in his own way!) was our Honorary Chairdog with his person Karen (shown to the left). Dr. Brian Voynick (to the right) shared Chair duties with Elwood,

We had very special guests this year - the gentlemen of Rescue Ink joined us. These wonderful people formed Rescue Ink to stop animal abuse. They educate the public about the unacceptable practices of puppy mills, how people can make better decisions about where to acquire their pets, they are advocates of Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR) programs for feral cats, they visit schools to educate children, they even devised a program of building dog and cat houses for animals in need - sound familiar? We were honored to have these like-minded, passionate animal lovers support our event.

The guys from Rescue Ink helped judge our Doggie Costume Contest. To the left is the Best Large Dog Costume winner, Duke the Great Dane, who came dressed up as a horse and sure looked the part! Best Small Dog Costume went to Titiana from Middletown shown to the right. Isn't she adorable?

The Wag provided great music, doing an acoustic set which was wonderful! The Wag performs every year and we really appreciate their great music!

Barkingdales (shown to the right), the retail "arm" for the MCSPCA was there, selling jewelry, T-shirts, calendars, holiday cards and more. All proceeds go right to the MCSPCA shelter pets.
We can't wait for Barkingdales to have permanent retail space in the new building.

WINNERS FOR MOST PLEDGES RAISED:

1st Place: Max and Harriet Colby
(shown to the left) raised $6464 - WOW!

2nd Place: Jill Bergmann raised $2323

3rd Place: Missie Liptak raised $1625

Thank you all so much!

Of course the event could not happen without our volunteers and staff. Here are a few photos of these very hard working people:
