OCTOBER 6, 2007, MCSPCA Annual DogWalk and Pet Fair - a big success!

Once again our annual Dog Walk and Pet Fair was held at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft and it was amazing! We broke all records! Beautiful weather, almost 90 degrees, hard to believe it was October. More people and their dogs showed up than ever before and found themselves with plenty of room both to walk around and to park! Brookdale went above and beyond the call of duty to make this event a special one. Thank you everyone at Brookdale!

As always, everyone showed their generosity. So far the event has raised over $105,746 so far and we are still counting. This event is our biggest fundraiser and this year was no exception. Your support means a great deal to our staff, volunteers and most of all, the shelter pets waiting for homes. Thank you!

Special thanks go to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital who once again led the way in corporate sponsorships by being our corporate partner (Dr. Tony DeCarlo is at the far left in the photo to the left). We thank all of our corporate sponsors, vendors, individual sponsors and supporters who helped make this event so successful. We also thank Grant Aleksander (shown to the right with staff member Kathy) for helping us with our awards ceremonies.

Lulu, a tiny dog with a big heart who saved her family from a fire, was honorary Chairdog and happily accepted her award for her bravery. Lulu and her people, Harold and Peggy Eisen, are shown to the left.

To the right, is Barbara Malone and April the chow, who gave a heartfelt speech on behalf of Leo the chow, who was found by our Humane Law Enforcement officers nearly starved to death and freezing (You can read Leo's story here).

Debbie and Fred accepted an award posthumously for the good works their dog Callie performed as a Pet Therapy dog. Callie visited countless nursing homes, bringing joy, love and comfort to so many residents. The Pet Therapy Program run by the MCSPCA visits many nursing homes yearly.

Lou Russo of the radio station 94.3 The Point was our emcee and chair and did a great job judging our doggie costume contest (scroll down to see photos).

The Wag provided great music, doing an acoustic set which was wonderful! The Wag performs every year and we really appreciate their great music!
