Once again, area residents showed their generosity and made our Pet Walk and Fair the most successful ever. Knowing that many people opened their hearts and wallets for the animal victims of Katrina and Rita made your donations to our Pet Walk even more meaningful. We thank everyone for supporting our biggest event of the year. It means a great deal to our staff, volunteers and pets to be a part of such a wonderful community.

We haven't tallied all the donations yet, but so far all you animal lovers from near and far helped raise over $110,000 for shelter animals. Close to 2000 people and over 500 dogs participated- an amazing number! Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, dozens of other corporate partners and hundreds of individual sponsors and supporters helped make this the most successful Pet Walk and Fair in the history of our organization. Every year it gets better!. Dr. Brian Voynick, from NEWS 12 New Jersey's "Pet Stop", was our emcee for the festivities. Dr. Voynick is shown to the right with our Executive Director, Ursula Goetz. Ursula started the Pet Walk tradition when she first joined our organization 12 years ago. That first Pet Walk raised $5000. We have come a long way baby!

We send a big THANK YOU to Drs. Tony DeCarlo and Tom Trotter and Red Bank Vet Hospital for once again being our corporate sponsor. Without support from local businesses like RBVH, the MCSPCA would not exist. Thank you!

Shown to the left: Dr. Tony DeCarlo, Ursula Goetz and Jean Greller after Dr. DeCarlo presented the RBVH corporate sponsorship to the MCSPCA.

The majority of the funds raised were in the form of hundreds of individual pledges. A minimum pledge of $25 was required to participate in the walk. Those raising at least $50 or more received a T-shirt. Thank you everyone for all your hard work raising pledges!

Individual winners for "The Most Pledge Money Collected" were:

1st Prize - Maureen Bedard raised over $7000 and won 2 round trip tickets on Continental Airlines to anywhere in the continental United States and a 3 night stay at a Hilton Hotel
2nd Prize - Ivy and Bob Kirn raised nearly $6000 and won a Bose Wave radio system, 2 tickets to see the NY Yankees and 2 tickets to the Count Basie Theater
3rd Prize - Harriet and Max Colby raised over $4000 and won an Extreme Makeover Package that includes gift certificates to the J.B. Satterfield Salon in Red Bank, and to the Aquatic Day Spa in Shrewsbury

Entertainment was provided by the The Wag Band (shown to the left). Bob Warwick and his amazing dog "Rudy" entertained the crowd with their Frisbee feats, the Matawan Police Canine Unit put on demonstrations, there were flyball and dog agility demonstrations and two ongoing rings of canine games and competition. The morning was filled with face painting, clowns, arts & crafts, great shopping from many vendors, and a Doggie Wedding Chapel! . We even had some adorable adoptables, ready for a new home!

We had new doggie contests this year! Contest Winners included:

Best Costume
- Christy Wreede & "Logan" from Eatontown

Best Vocal Performance - Laura Ewart & "Cherokee" of Toms River

Best Ball Catcher - Jackie Brow & "Maxine" of Brick.

A great time was had by all. Here are some photos to prove it!

A FEW PIX OF OUR WONDERFUL VENDORS:

This year, the MCSPCA tried a new fundraiser by being a vendor ourselves. We came up with "The Boutique at Barkingdales", where we sold pet-oriented jewelry like earrings, bracelets and pins. We also sold "paw paintings"- art created by shelter pets! Of course, we also had the 2006 "New Beginnings" MCSPCA Alumni Calendar for sale too. Barkingdales proved to be a big success and best of all, every penny we earned went right to our shelter pets! Some people asked if we had a store, not yet we say! We will have a table at "Santa Paws" later this year, so keep an eye out!

WE ALWAYS LOVE IT WHEN OUR ALUMNI COME TO VISIT- HERE ARE JUST A FEW:

WE ALSO LOVE IT WHEN OUR CANINE FRIENDS COME ALL DRESSED UP!

WE LOVE IT MOST OF ALL WHEN THEY SHOW THEIR TRUE LOVE:

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WE LOVE ALL OUR WONDERFUL PARTICIPANTS!!!
